Hello There,
I'm the DNS Admin for Iowa Telecom. We are currently using VegaDNS to
manage 210 zones, including the reverse for about 70,000 IP addresses. Some
of our zones are absolutely huge, and required tweaking of the php.ini file
to allow more memory usage. I've been pleased with 0.5 so far, and plan a
migration in the future to the 0.7 release to take advantage of the
"pagination" feature. The upcoming crypt() passwords function will be nice.
I had no issues training around the (delete and recreate) record
methodology, but have had a few whiners ask if there is a way to make an
"edit" button for them. My only concerns are if the MySQL database format
has changed at all between 0.5 and 0.7 because it would be a tremendous
chore to re-add all the domains. That and I discovered a small bug where if
you were to grab as example:
Iowatelecom.net
With the import function, it will grab any and all subdomains and populate
the record with those as well. So an import of iowatelecom.net also fetched
20,000 dsl.iowatelecom.net records and another 40,000 or so
dialup.iowatelecom.net records and put them in the same zone. This may be
because I was axfr'ing from a djbdns server, and not a bind server when I
set this up initially.
Otherwise, thanks for the excellent front end for tinydns. It has made my
life, and my junior admin's lives easier.
