I had a similar problem but I had accidentally used == for string equality within my equals(). I will add this to the Wiki as it's a common problem for beginners. A lot of MSc Internet Software Systems students at the University of Birmingham (they teach Wicket as part of the syllabus) had this problem with DDC.
