AjaxLink not clickable in IE

I've got this AjaxLink:

 

fooLink = new AjaxLink("fooLink") {

                                                @Override

                                                public void
onClick(AjaxRequestTarget target) {

                                                            Boolean
selected = (Boolean) fooCheckBox.getModelObject();

                                                            if
(!selected) {

 
fooCheckBox.setModelObject((new Boolean(true)));

                                                            }

 
target.addComponent(fooCheckBox);

                                                            // pop up
the modal

 
showRecurringFooModal(recurringFooModalWindow, target);

                                                }

                                    };

Works fine in Safari and Firefox but in IE it's not clickable - looks
like a link but the mouse pointer doesn't change and nothing happens
when clicking. No error message either in IE's JS console or in AJAX.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?
