Yeah, Jquery started something which I tested a couple of months ago with no luck.
Writing/Finding a leaner comet client is in the TODO right now... The idea Jesse McConnel has is of making it simpler to marshall data to-from clients. To make it, an actual bus for communication. We haven't had much time to discuss all this though.
