Well, that's the problem. 1.4-rc2 matches the Wicket 1.4-rc2 release. There are API differences which will prohibit it from working with the 1.3.5 release of Wicket. You'll need to pull from the 1.3.x branch of WS and build it yourself - unfortunately.
