Gerald, My example quickstart project is maven based. So I would suggest to use maven to compile it. If your're a beginner I would highly recommend that you download and use a Netbeans IDE (from http://www.netbeans.org) which has a built-in maven project support. Open the project from the IDE and then you should be able to build and run it with a single button click.
