Just for the records: I'm now setting the internal error page in WebApplication.init() as Alex suggested and override WebApplication.newRequestCycle(Request, Response) to return a subclass of WebRequestCycle which overrides logRuntimeException(RuntimeException) to not log this InvalidUrlException.
