Hi,
according to the inline documentation of ModalWindow you can only autosize if
you add components and don't use ModalWindow.PageCreator
something like
ModalWindow modalWindow = new ModalWindow();
modalWindow.add(new MyPanel(modalWindow.getComponentId());
....
