Thanks Martin. Good to know about the other option. I'll go with Session.get().bind(); since I get the redirect to the error page. Otherwise, if I add the RedirectPolicy.NEVER_REDIRECT to the RenderPageRequestHandler there will still be the original value in the URL bar of the browser.
