Finally I was able to find onSelect method :)

What I need is "client only" menu item (with no round trip to server)
Currently I'm achieving this as follows:
new MenuItem(....) {
@Override
public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget target) {
target.appendJavaScript("alert('test');");
}
}
