You should not make a complete new skin just for this. The best approach is to change just the menuview.vm template and upload it as an attachment to the XWiki.DefaultSkin document (or the skin you have configured in your wiki). The template is pretty easy to understand IMHO, you need to find the right lines and wrap them with #if(!$isGuest) ... #end About the memory problems: - you will get out of heap memory if you use many attachments. This is buggy and wrongly designed, it should be fixed in the future. - permgen errors should not happen. What container are you using? Tomcat, by any chance? There is a bug in some containers, triggered when reloading the webapp without restarting the server.
