Please make sure the user you used to install the package on your Vista
machine has all the rights required (eg, that you're logged-in as an admin).
As Sergiu stated, "The problem is that the database is not stored back to
the disk. This might happen if you put it on a readonly filesystem." => thus
I suspect that Vista somehow doesn't trust the application enough to let it
write onto the filesystem. This sometimes happen in XP as well when a file
is stored into the temp directory...

I don't have much more insight into this though - hope it may help.
