When you get http://localhost.com you just forgot to enter http://  
this is a nasty behavior of Windows or IE (I am not sure).

If everything else fails you can either:

edit the hosts file (somwhere in /Windows/System32/..) and add
        localhost.com   127.0.0.1

or just use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost.
