In the past they were quite resource hungry and we wanted the best performance possible on the myxwiki farm. However we've improved them a while back already so we might try to turn them on and see how they affect the performance on a public wiki (they're quite fine on an internal wiki but they cost more on a visible public wiki since they record all pages viewed).
