I tested the new hidden documents feature in xwiki 4.0RC1. I do not see any impact of the "Hidden document" flag.
I can see hidden documents as unregistered user and also as user with user preferences "Display hidden documents" set to "No".
Changes on the hidden document are visible in the activity stream for such users.
