You still want to use Solr afterwards? What XWiki version are you using? If the problem you are facing is that the Solr indexing at startup takes a lot of resources then you should try XWiki 5.4.3 which has http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-10140 . Btw, how large is your wiki? What number of documents/attachments/objects do you have?
To answer your question: not if you still want to use Solr search afterwards. Either remove Solr entirely by removing the xwiki-platform-search-solr* jars from WEB-INF/lib or try XWiki 5.4.3, hoping the initial indexing has been improved (feedback is welcomed).
