For this one, I’m not sure what to do. We do list Java7 as being a requirement 
at 
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HPrerequisites

I’ve added a troubleshooting entry at
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HUnsupportedmajor.minorversion51.0

Let me know if you think this is enough or if you have other ideas to make it 
simpler for users to install/upgrade.
