Location : Hartford CT and NYC.
Duration : 3 Months
Job Description – Data Architect
Client is looking for a seasoned data architect with proven experience dealing
with the many challenges facing large scale enterprise data initiatives,
including the design/architecting of future state data platforms, data
integration strategies, and supporting processes as part of transformation or
modernization efforts. This position requires ability to be “hands-on” with
analyzing data and database design/implementation. This is not a
“theory-based” position.
Additionally, you will be exposed to Big Data implementations, virtualization
and management of unstructured data. “Data Science” will become your middle
name, if it isn’t already!
This position may also evolve into a Practice Lead position for the Firm’s Data
consulting practice.
If your background includes project management, data management, management
consulting, experience in the insurance, financial services and/or media
domains, and a willingness to travel, we want to talk to you.
Major Job Objectives
• Define and evolve enterprise data management processes, organization, and
tools.
• Develop and implement enterprise data architecture strategy for clients.
Partner with client business and technology stakeholders to facilitate and
align the strategy.
• Define and evolve enterprise data architecture best practices.
• Develop, validate, and communicate modeling solutions, including relational
and dimensional models.
• Design data models, ensuring they are viewed, interpreted, and used in a
consistent and effective manner and are incorporated into the overall program
strategy.
• Analyze data-related systems integration opportunities and challenges.
• Ensure data solutions address performance requirements, integrity and
security challenges, and business functional requirements.
• Hands-on experience with leading data platforms such as Oracle, Sybase,
Microsoft as well as Big Data platforms such as Greenplum or Oracle Exadata.
Desired Skills & Experience
Job Requirements
• At least 10 years of experience as data/information architecture role with
deep knowledge of enterprise data concepts, methodologies, artifacts, and best
practices.
• Expertise in relational data models, meta-data and master data management.
• Experience in defining and implementing master data management (MDM) and
enterprise information management (EIM; structured and unstructured data)
solutions.
• Strong systems integration project experience.
• Experience with unstructured data software/platforms such as MarkLogic,
Versant, Hadoop, etc.
• Data science background is a plus
• Expertise with Oracle database, data warehousing, and data management tools
is a plus.
Personal Qualifications
• Can think strategically and with an eye to the future, but act practically
and in-line with reality.
• Must be comfortable “going technical” in the data architecture realm.
• Superior relationship management, consultative, presentation, and
communication skills.
• Sound leadership, negotiation, critical thinking, project/time management
skills.
• Strong problem solving skills – Ability to work through ambiguity, balance
tactical and strategic, and adapt to changing requirements.
• Enthusiasm and a sense of humor; work hard/play hard mentality.
• Ability to work productively with remote teams.
