Job Title: Software Quality Engineer (SQE) Location: Cupertino, CA Duration: 12 months+ Job Description Software Quality Engineer (SQE) General Duties Develops and implements QA review &test plans for complex, multi-tier, distributed, applications throughout the full lifecycle of the software in order to identify problems and their causes. Understands all components of Apple *MQM* hardware & software. Develops quality assurance standards. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics on production readiness such as defect densities and open defect counts. Reports to MQM QA Manager. Essential Duties Quality Assurance: · Defines, develops and implements quality assurance practices and procedures, test plans and other QA assessments · Assists in establishing and enforcing standards and best practices of QA throughout design & development. · Develops&leverages automated testing systems using commercial tools (Selenium), scripts (shell scripting) and data sets · Ensures that all items follow the appropriate SDLC QA process and are tracked · Works directly with appropriate MQM and project personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach of software development, system enhancement projects. · Act as a consultant to MQM teams on QA troubleshooting, quality methods, processes, and tools · Able to work independently and as part of a team Testing · Defines scope and objectives of all levels of QA testing · Establishes the purpose and deliverables of the test effort · Participate in all aspects of development &testing, including functional, regression, system and stress/load/performance testing · Responsible for the overall success of testing, manages assigned projects from Dev Design to QAthrough final User Acceptance Testing and Production Support · Problem solving and resolution of any issues that impede the test effort · Assures the appropriate level of quality resolving important defects by working with developers and users to ensure the software development process has an appropriate level of testing during all stages of QA · Creates effective manual and automated test methods, using a variety of toolsets · Embeds with Dev team and coordinates with groups of business personnel who test, evaluate and validate new functions and applications, and identify issues in software or services · Records and reports on testing metrics · Track and report defects using appropriate tools Job Qualifications & Experience Proven success in the following job competencies: · Analysis and Reporting · Communication and Presentation · Customer Focus and Relationship Building · Information and Technology Proficiency · Problem Solving and Decision Making Technical Industry and/or Profession Expertise: · Demonstrated ability to work well with business analysts, developers/programmers and end users in an agile cross functional team · *Minimum of 6-8 years QA or software development &test experience* · *Experience conducting QA/testing of multiple software projects simultaneously* · *Experienced in Continuous Integrations concept & Jenkins (CI) UI and hub* · *Experienced in Automation tools: Selenium, Load Runner, others a plus* · *Experienced in programming languages: Java, XML, SQL, PL/SQL, others a plus* · *Experienced in operating systems: Unix/Linux, Xserves, others a plus* · *Experienced in scripts languages: java script, shell script, Perl, Python, others a plus* · *Experienced in transactional & storage Database/ETL: Oracle, Exadata, Teradata* · *Experienced in Application Servers: Apache, Tomcat, others a plus* · *Experienced in Version Control: SVN, GIT, others a plus* · Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) including requirements definition, initial application design, testing, final implementation and operations · Familiarity with Macbook Pro, Safari, iWork and Microsoft Office tools · Familiar with manufacturing processes and data a plus Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
