*Description*
The current consumer environment is experiencing major shifts in how people
work with their personal data. Today's consumers use a wide variety of
devices and operating systems on a daily basis. This environment creates
opportunities to help customers by breaking down barriers for accessing,
organizing, and storing their data. We need the best and the brightest to
help us bring together an ecosystem with seamless
integration. In Hewlett-Packard's Applications and Services Group Lab we
bring together software and hardware components to solve consumer's most
complex problems. As part of the team you will be responsible for creating
a wealth of new software components in a complex multifaceted systems
environment. This is a fast paced environment where the candidate will have
an opportunity to work on leading edge technology, utilizing agile
processes and provide technical leadership to a team of skilled software
engineers.
On a day to day basis the ideal candidate, analyzes, designs, programs,
debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in
local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs, primarily for end
users. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code,
completes development tasks, and performs testing and debugging of
applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and
maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or
necessary modifications.
*Responsibilities*
- Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions
and subsystems of end-user applications software running on local,
networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration
activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall
architecture of product or solution.
- Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and
documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs,
and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application
architecture
- Provides leadership in areas of expertise including communication both
written and verbal to other engineers, management, and system architects.
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and
outsourced development partners regarding software applications design
status, project progress, and issue resolution
- Represents the software applications engineering team for all phases
of larger and more-complex development projects.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members
*Education and Experience*
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information
Systems, or equivalent
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience
*Knowledge and Skills*
- Experience on multiple operating systems a plus
- Experience with the following languages - C#, Java, Objective C,
XML, C++
- Multithreaded software development
- Networking (Familiarity with TCP and UDP is a big plus)
- Data Management: eg SQL
- Multimedia data handling (photo, video, audio, documents)
- Windows Programming
- Experience with web service interactions.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Experience in data streaming technologies (server and client)
- Experience with UX/UI design and working with a Design team
- Strong Analytical and problem solving skills in troubleshooting and
debugging software issues.
- Software systems testing methodology, including writing and execution
of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery of
English. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design
proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
