This is a Unix administrator/engineer role. The role is 65% Solaris and 35%
Linux.



A. Network, server and application monitoring for PSEG hosted
infrastructure and applications;

B. Support and response including assessment, analysis, escalation and
resolution of system problems or malfunctions;

C. Provide critical support role in meeting the PSEG Nuclear custom outage
service level agreement for resolving outage related IT problems in an
average of 30 minutes or less;

D. Participate in the coordination of incident response & problem
resolution with responsible IT Operations associates and IT vendors as
necessary;

E. Document problems and their resolution in the PSEG ITSM system’s
incident and problem records

F. CompuCom will follow all PSEG procedures (e.g. Change Management).

G. Replacing field replaceable units (i.e., parts mailed by Sun/Oracle for
us to install) are in scope;

H. Support our SUN Solaris server infrastructure;

I. CompuCom staff will use PSEG’s Tools;

J. Updating the management agents that are installed on the servers.

a. PSEG current management agents includes Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft
Operations Manager, EMC PowerPath, Symantec Antivirus, Tivoli Storage
Management, Dell and Sun hardware agents, etc.;

K. Patch, reboots and any other server activity as requested by PSEG;

L. Physical and virtual server builds;

M. Hardware firmware updates;

N. Investigate performance issues, and investigate server down incidents;

O. Print Servers - Create and support print queues for client use;

P. Server File Restores - Perform file level restores for clients, such as
excel and word documents on network shares;

Q. Server Virus Protection - Ensure that virus protection is configured and
working on all applicable servers;

R. Respond to disk usage alarms

S. Perform server patching

T. Troubleshoot server performance issues;

U. Perform file restores;

V. Monitor the PSEG ITSM system queues for incident, task and change
records and take the appropriate actions necessary to successfully resolve
them.



Required Skill

UNIX:

A. Experience as a Linux Administrator with emphasis on configuring and
building Linux systems and clusters.

B. Experience working with SAN attached servers

C. Experience as a Sun Solaris administration in a clustered server
environment

D. Experience with UNIX Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10.

E. Veritas Volume Manager and Sun Cluster software

F. Sun virtualization technologies, i.e., Ldoms, Zones, etc.;

G. Familiarity with monitoring and backup tools such as Tivoli Storage
Manager and EMC Ionix;

H. Red Hat Linux certification preferred

I. ITIL Foundations certification preferred

J. 3 to 7 years’ experience is required
