*Job Description:*



*Role: OBD Test Engineer*

*Duration: 6 months+*

*Location: Irvine, CA*

*Phone/Skype*





*Job Details*

·         Work with OBDII Engineers and Diagnostic and Emission Critical
ECU (DECECU) Engineers to identify necessary testing during development
phase (“pre-Production Vehicle Evaluation” testing)

·         Identify, source, and implement necessary testing equipment and
instrumentation for specific projects

·         Work with OBDII group to identify and source proper OBDII testing
tools for the company

·         Carry out “pre-PVE” testing and report results back to relevant
engineers; track issues in JIRA

·         Support CARB certification in relevance to OBDII Monitoring
Demonstration (J1711)

·         Support End of Line testing at the production plant

·         Carry Production Vehicle Evaluation Testing according to 1968.2
including:

·         Verification of standardized requirements – static testing
(J1699-3) to verify proper communication with a scan tool and proper
reporting of data (J1978, J1979)

·         Verification of monitoring requirements – work with OBDII
Engineers to identify and test all relevant diagnostics across the vehicle

·         Verification and reporting of In-Use Monitoring Performance –
collect and compile necessary data



*Job Requirements*

·         B.S. in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or
Mechatronics)

·         Hands-on engineer with at least 1 year experience in test
engineering for OBDII

·         Working knowledge of PHEV / EV powertrain architecture

·         Knowledge of ODX / CANdela (diagnostic descriptor files)

·         Familiarity with CARB OBDII regulations (1968.2)

·         Working knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, LIN, GMLAN)

·         Familiarity with applicable industry standards (J1978, J1979,
J2012, J1699, J1711)

·         Experience testing with standard diagnostic tools

·         Experience performing in-vehicle and bench testing utilizing
break-out-boxes and other fault insertion methods

·         Familiarity with diagnostic protocols (KPW2000,  UDS,  …) (

·         Experience with CANalyzer and Vector suite software/hardware (
