*Description:*



The SQL Admin/DBA is an integral member of the Contact Monitoring and
Speech Analytics tech team, responsible for the design, execution and
support of data collection, data storage, data preparation, and data
delivery within the ecosystem. The SQL Admin/DBA will report directly to
the Infrastructure Lead and will work in collaboration with data
architects, engineers, developers, and key stakeholders to design, deliver
and support robust scalable data driven engineering solutions.

This position will be part of a team responsible to work with other
Information & Security teams to design, develop, and deliver new data
sources, develop analytics against both streaming and batch-based data sets
and delivery reporting capabilities. This position demands a
well-organized, action oriented team player with the ability to prioritize
daily work and the ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal communications skills are required.

This SQL Admin/DBA role will provide technical leadership for the design,
deployment and management of critical hardware and software that supports
the American Express Contact Monitoring and Speech Analytics business
capabilities. This portfolio heavily leverages Microsoft business solutions
such as SQL Server as well as 3rd party vendor solutions such as NICE
applications.



*Qualifications*



   - 8+ years of extensive SQL Server database administration experience is
   required.
   - 5+ years’ experience working in Windows OS and SQL Server environments.
   - 3+ years’ experience working in a lead SQL Server engineering role
   like database developer or DBA.
   - Experience with other DBMS’s (e.g., Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Postgres) is a
   plus.
   - Understanding of database design principles, logical and physical data
   modeling and normalization methodologies.
   - Expert in SQL scripting, construction of highly complex queries and
   refactoring techniques.
   - Strong working knowledge and design of SQL objects such as tables,
   keys, data types, stored procedures, views, user defined inline and
   multi-statement functions, database and table triggers.
   - Experience with database sizing, file placement optimization, tempdb
   tuning, I/O Subsystem implementation and benchmarking.
   - Experience with resolving deadlocks and excessive blocking, and
   monitoring event severity levels.
   - Ability to design, implement and support optimum throughput
   configurations for VLDBs.
   - Strong knowledge of advanced SQL Server console commands (DBCC), trace
   flags, and undocumented features.
   - Knowledge of transaction and error handling including isolation levels
   and recommendations.
   - Extensive experience with deep dive system performance tuning, index
   analysis and resource management on SQL Server using diagnostic tools like
   Extended Events (XEvents), Query Execution Plans, Waits & Queues, SQL
   Tracing, Perfmon, query I/O & time statistics.
   - Experience with database auditing tools for SQL Server such as Change
   Data Capture (CDC) and DDL Triggers.
   - Familiar with Database Source Control tools like Visual Studio
   Database Projects, SVN, Ankh, and Git.
   - Experiences with networking fundamentals and middleware technologies.
   - Knowledge of automation using other scripting languages (PowerShell,
   C#, Perl, etc.).
   - Familiar with Data Warehousing and Data Mart best practices, and
   OLTP/OLAP databases.
   - Knowledge of Microsoft BI Stack (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) to deploy, support
   and optimize implementations.
   - Knowledge of ETL techniques using SSIS, SQLCMD, PowerShell.
   - Familiar with securing and hardening SQL Server instances including
   surface area reduction and Active Directory best practices.
   - Database migration and upgrade expert (in-place and side-by-side).
   - Experience with supporting SQL Server High Availability solutions
   (Failover Clustering, Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, etc.).
   - Experience implementing Disaster Recovery Modeling, Backup and Restore
   strategies.
   - Experience designing and implementing hardware solutions using RAID,
   SAN, NAS, NIC teaming, MPIO, etc.
   - Familiar with supporting SQL Servers running on VMs (e.g., vSphere,
   ESXi, Hyper-V).
   - Knowledge of platform delivery methodology (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Scaled
   Agile, Test-Driven Development, Waterfall, etc.).
   - Information Security domain knowledge is preferred (e.g. tools and
   technologies).
   - Knowledge of the latest technology trends in Big Data, MongoDB, Hadoop
   (and other NoSQL databases), Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data
   Visualization.
   - Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.
   - Demonstrated track-record of success in working in project teams to
   support the build and/or upgrade of enterprise scale tools and applications.
   - Understanding of Change/Incident Management processes and procedures.
   - Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to clearly
   articulate solution alternatives.
   - A self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
   - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.



   *Critical Job Responsibilities:*




   - Provide lead support and direction to the team for the overall health
   and maintenance of all in scope infrastructure and data assets.
   - Collaborate with vendor engineering to resolve escalated tickets when
   necessary.
   - Implement and support architectural requirements and designs with the
   ability to organize inter-dependent tasks and estimate the required effort
   and timelines.
   - Integrate innovative solutions involving different
   technologies/products and support the development of testing and acceptance
   of prototypes and product recommendations.
   - Recognize and work appropriately with confidential and sensitive
   information.
   - Escalation contact for database support, extraction, maintenance,
   schema, and execution plans.
   - Define and implement database design principles, security models, and
   maintenance plans.
   - Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure
   data consistency and integrity.
   - Strong analytical/problem solving skills with the ability to clearly
   articulate solution alternatives
   - Provide technical leadership for NICE based platforms including
   related data replication and backup solutions.
   - Develops data migration strategies and leads execution of data
   migrations projects.
   - Collaborates with physical and data center infrastructure teams to
   design, build and manage infrastructure solutions that meet business
   partner needs and qualities of service expectations.
   - Drives standardization as well as process automation in order to
   reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
   - Provides input to and drives alignment with relevant reference
   architectures and technology standards.
   - Provide internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation
   during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
   - Define processes, documentation and engineering diagrams for technical
   and operations support.
   - Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a
   timely manner.
   - Responsible for the quality of deliverables in terms of the technical
   design, implementation, testing and adherence to technical compliance
   standards.
   - Ensure AEXP Database Reference Architecture (DBRAE) standards are
   reused and enforced across all data-driven initiatives.
   - Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard
   information in data platforms against accidental or unauthorized damage,
   modification or disclosure.
   - Identify and analyze data discrepancies and data quality issues and
   work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
