JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Application Programmer - SAS Consultant 3

Additional Information:  SAS Consultant for Performance Enhancement, Pontiac, MI, 50% travel

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Code review and performance assessment of custom SAS application developed by EDS and related server environments to create a formal recommendation for modifications which will improve system health. All work activities will be directed by EDS. Code review and assessment will include the following activities:
  • Review and analysis of SAS code.
  • Monitor logs and batch job processing, analyze performance.
  • Discuss with developers and users issues and completed performance modifications.
  • After completing the analysis, finalize research and documentation.
  • Present findings to EDS.

 

Recommendation Documentation which includes sections on the code reviewed, changes made, improvement results, and defined steps that the SAS developers can utilize in improving the ETL. Sections can include:

• Near term & long term recommendations

• Best Practices

• Implementation of Java to SAS interfaces, that is IOM for Phase 2

• Recommendation for additional indices to be added to the current GART data model to help with performance

• Recommendation of development of any pre-processed data we could have run on a weekly basis which is not batch job specific which could speed up batch job performance
