This is a long-term contract position and the hourly rate is DOE. My client is looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to run their imaging-related product development efforts. Key tasks and responsibilities include: • Drive imaging-related software development and content integration, reporting to the Head of Product Development • Drive application requirements to implementation • Actively work as part of a team of software developers in implementing the required solutions as defined in the specifications and plans • Develop image recognition and processing algorithms solely for particular business-driven use cases • Rapidly prototype algorithm pipelines on PC in C/C++ and in certain cases Matlab • Develop product-level code in various languages, esp. S60 C/C++ and Open C to allow easy integration of image algorithms into existing pipeline and software • Quickly get-up-to-speed on the existing code base • Closely work with the operations, marketing and design to assess the user impact of algorithm performance and to see if performance is sufficient for a particular use case is sufficient to delight customers • Conduct feasibility studies and give feedback about requirement impacts as key domain expert in unit • Proactively consult with chief architect in identifying and implementing the best technical solutions • Select suitable architectures, implementation technologies, techniques and patterns. Design the implementation and then implement the requirements • Keep documentation up-dated for all components in domain • Take responsibility for overall product quality in domain • Continuously escalate any potential issues, road-blocks and risks and openly discuss any potential issues with the management team to enable early risk management and resource adjustment • Act as an example and lead the development team • Help to recruit and retain a set of world-class image recognition and processing software developers with relevant product experience as well as transition existing engineers into the new organization • Foster a work environment of openness, complete honesty, trust and integrity • Deliver always on time and on target with exceptional quality at a very high clock speed Success will be measured by timely, high-quality delivery against the product development plan, but more importantly by customer adoption, satisfaction and feedback. • Exceptional technical implementation skills, at least 8-15 years experience in developing and implementing image recognition and processing algorithms. Highly talented and effective coder • Expert in state of the art image recognition and processing algorithms (object recognition, OCR, etc.) as well as state of the art machine learning and AI algorithms • Excellent understanding of camera pipeline and low-level image operations • Delivery of a major commercial software product and/or service as a leading contributor is a strong plus • Expert in C/C++ and MatLab. Prior experience with S60, Assembly, JAVA MIDP, S40, BREW, UI development, application protocols development, Flash and FlashLite a plus • Experience in software testing processes and tools (unit/regression testing, integration testing, etc.) a plus • Experience in location-based services, mapping, picture management, data mining, database design, web analysis, content tools a plus Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering.
