Under limited supervision, assists in the analysis, design, programming, and
modifications for software products and/or customer applications. Writes
code and completes programming, testing, and debugging of applications.
Finalizes forms, procedures, and documentation needed for installation and
maintenance of application programs. Interfaces with marketing and customers
to add new or custom features to company products. May use a wide range of
disciplines such as distributed networking and databases, communications,
and multiprocessing applications. Requires firm background in software
engineering including analysis, design, implementation and verification.
Typically requires a degree in computer science, and 2 to 4 years related
experience. Requires familiarity with many of these technologies:
DOS/Windows, OS/2, 32-bit Windows Programming, OLE Automation and OLE
Control, Win32 Windows Device Drivers, Windows NT, C++, Assembler, GUI,
Java, Java Script, HTML, DHTML, Active Server Pages, OLE DB, DCOM, and
ActiveX. May be involved in the development/support of BIOS, drivers or
system software and tools such as ICE, soft-ICE, and kernel debugger.;

As a Java Engineer, you will become a key member of an expert team of
developers, creating Teradata'''s Multi-System Manager (TMSM) application.
Utilizing Portals, Portlets, Spring, JSF/Struts, Hibernate, AJAX, and other
leading-edge technologies, you will design, build and test applications on a
new technology platform. Our goal is to build a state-of-the-art, clustered
and scaleable web based application based on open standards and best of
breed Java technologies. This position will be a member of the Teradata
Multi-System Manager (TMSM) portlet team, designing, coding, testing, and
maintaining the TMSM Monitor and Control Subsystem for the Teradata Dual
Active program. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, creative,
experienced software engineer who is ready to contribute to the success of
Teradata.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Participate as a team member in application design, code, unit and
integration test, system test and maintenance of Teradata MSM portlets
• Design and deliver Teradata applications in Java and J2EE technologies
(portlets)
• Utilize Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development best practices
• Provide guidance and direction to junior engineers
• Design and deliver products that meet specifications; ensure high
standards in programming quality, style and organization
• Communicate effectively with other engineers and QA
• Participate in Agile development processes and focus on automated testing
to support software quality efforts
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues and tests; implement load testing
techniques
• Participate in developing formal automation testing strategy and plans,
providing recommendations/suggestions for improving automated testing

techniques
• Experience with Servlets/JSP, JMS, JNDI, JDBC, JTA, JAXP, Junit, and Ant
(3+ years)
• Strong relational database background and experience with SQL (4+ years)
• Experience with application design and UML (1+ years)
• Experience with Web UI frameworks such as Struts, and developing complex
UIs in JSP, JSF and Servlets (1+ years)
• Experience in an Agile development process, such as XP or Scrum
• Accomplished in the use of SQL, Stored Procedures, macros and views
• Experience with data warehousing technologies and applications Preferences
• Experience with tools such as Junit, TestNG, HTTPUnit, Ant, Maven, Jakarta
Commons, Neoload
• Experience with Confluence, Jira, Subversion, Clover, TestNG
• Should be capable on various operating systems, including Linux and
Windows environment
• Experience developing and deploying J2EE applications and portlets on
application servers such as Tomcat/Liferay, as well as with Enterprise
Portals
• Spring MVC, Hibernate, JSF, Portlets
• Understanding of XML-based technologies: DOM, SAX, XPATH, XSLT.
• Security: encryption, authentication, key management
