Descriptions:
Provide technical leadership for a group of database administrators
responsible for supporting multiple databases, overseeing the highest
quality of the database and supporting several development groups.
- Manage and provide technical leadership for a group of database
administrators
- Assess problems, create new technical solutions, drive team in deployment
of these solutions
- Support managerial activities: team building, employee development,
employee evaluations, etc.
- Hands-on support of production, test and development databases
- Administer 24x7 production databases
- Day to day DBA tasks including:
- Installation and configuration of Oracle software
- Startup/shutdown of database servers
- Backup/recovery of databases
- Creating/deleting databases
- Security administration (creating users and giving/removing access to
databases)
- Storage management
- Database monitoring
- Database and SQL tuning
- Troubleshooting
- Network configuration
- Create and maintain ERD
- Provide technical support to clients for database-related issues
- Assist internal departments with all database issues
Requirements:
- Minimum of four years of Oracle DBA experience within a 24x7 production
support environment
- Some technical leadership experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work
experience required
- Superior verbal and written communications skills required.
- Able to excel in a highly customer-focused environment. The ability to
interact successfully with the customer and meet customer expectations is
critical.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large-scale projects.
- Customer service orientation
- Must be able to establish effective working relationships with a diverse
group of people
- Strong experience in defining and implementing database tuning, backup and
recovery, and high availability strategies
- Extensive knowledge in database administration, configuring and tuning
Oracle databases in a UNIX environment
- Ability to write UNIX scripts for DBA task automation
