Hi, folks...

Firstly, I must say I'm baffled by the lack of... "positive" response concerning the
issue of DOTs reversals. It looks like everybody here has... "caved in"... I hope
I'm wrong.

Anyway. Here is what I consider to be a potentially workable plan.

1. We should contact the main bodies (and orgs like NIST, AASHTO, NIBS, *EVERYBODY*!)
in metric states to get them to "sign in" with GO SI EH, for instance (or any other
chapter/umbrella one would care to found in the US...), to support a "panstate" motion
to put pressure in all other states that reversed to tell them and all potential
lobbyists, politicians or otherwise, loud and clear that they want nothing with
reversal, so buzz off!!!

2. We should cover our ground in metric states to make sure there won't be any
stabbing in the back by organizations such as MBRA, *ESPECIALLY* in Indiana. That
would involve contacting those channels who would hypothetically have the authority to
force Indiana's DOT to reverse. This must be done *immediately*, in view of what
we've heard from Mr. Naeyaert.

3. USMA's Board of Directors should get more involved with this in helping us gather
the necessary information to undertake these contacts. In order to undertake this
vast task we need volunteers who would be willing to follow up on this.

In essence, folks, we must show some leadership, initiative and organization on this.
It's UNACCEPTABLE that we continue seeing the enemies of progress succeeding all the
time on this. If we don't get organized (or at least as well as they are) we take the
very serious risk of seeing all progress we've witnessed in the last 100 years
completely evaporate, since once ifp goons see how successful they've been, they won't
stop there, they'll press forward everywhere they can!!!

Evidently I welcome ideas from our participants in this forum on how to improve on the
above plan. Thank you.

Marcus
PS: Please, hurry though. Time is of the essence! ;-)
