John may be right. Nonetheless, I recently ran across another situation where metric proved infinitely superior. The problem was, since the old survey foot and the new standard foot are about 6 parts per million different (if I remember right), how much is that across the country? Since it's approximately 5000 km across the country, that's 5 000 000 m. Difference = 30 m (5x6) Try doing that in FFU, starting with 3000 miles and ending up with 100 feet.
