Today I heard a report on CBS news about a British designer who has come
up with a new design for women's bras based on the how a Frisbee is
manufactured. His sound bite had him ssaying that some women need "to
support up to two kilos in each breast, which is quite a bit".

I noted his use of "kilo" and also the fact that the U.S. reporter did
not provide any sort of conversion.

My girlfriend just got back from a week in Ireland. Since she did not
buy any packaged goods and did not pay much attention to the distance
signs on the road, her impression was that Ireland is still Imperial
except for temperature. She says that because she heard everyone
continue to use "miles", "feet" (or perhaps "yards"), "pounds" (for
mass), etc. She visited Limerick, Cork, and Killarney, then returned
home via Shannon Airport.

Tom Wade: does this report surprise you?

Cheers,
Ezra
