Another message from the USMA Executive Director:

"Please call the attention of Californians to the upcoming Proposition
35 on the California ballot this election. Proposition 35 passage would
allow California to hire commercial contractors to handle the building
of California Works projects, such as building highways, buildings, etc.
Right now, our own California construction and transportation groups
HAVE to use their own employees to do all the design, construction,
etc."

"On the surface a voter might think it good to bring in outsiders to do
this work because it appears that the state's employees can't seem to
handle as much of it as is required to be done. But we'd hate to see a
bunch of contractors come in and lobby the California legislature to go
back to inch-pound (as Michigan is doing), so I'd like to call
attention, on our Listserver to this."

I don't know who are our California subscribers, so I'm sending this to
all of you, since I have not noticed this part of the election being
mentioned.
