Adrian:

Welcome to the list.

First, an important point. Please don't use HTML format for messages to this
list. Some members don't have HTML-enabled email software. Also, unlike
plain text message, HTML messages can be vehicles for the newer computer
viruses.

On item 1, Ronald Reagan removed the Metric Board's funding, so it hasn't
existed for quite some years.

On item 2, it's currently a free market situation. If vendors want a
company's business, they'll have to comply with whatever requirements that
company wants to impose.

Subject: [USMA:8914] Hello! ..and a few Questions (no viruses)

I have recently joined this listserver (and USMA), and I wanted to say Hi!
Before I get to the questions I want to thank Don Hillger for making this
open discussion possible and USMA in general for their work on what I
believe is one of the most just causes since the Declaration of
Independence.
1. I see in the US Code paragraphs 204 and 205 mentioning about a US Metric
Board. I did some searches on the Internet and found nothing yet. Can anyone
tell me where I can find info about this board and it's work?
2. From what I can see in the US Code, the SI is more than allowed. Does
anyone know any regulations (OSHA, DEP, NFPA etc.) prohibiting or
restricting a private company from asking its suppliers/contractors to
submit all documentation pertaining to their product/work, in SI?
Thank you!
