Myth: Metrification is an EU plot

Fact: Metrication is a British decision, not an EU-phenomenon. It is a
global development - all other Commonwealth countries have gone metric, and
the US is going metric. All British Governments since 1965 have taken steps
to promote the introduction of the metric system in the United Kingdom. Most
goods in shops are already metric. We are nearing the end of the metrication
process.
