But when STS-92 went up a few weeks ago to visit and work on the ISS
not a mention of SI was heard. Actually I did hear one commentator on
NASA TV mention the approximate distance above the earth in km as
well as miles but most every conversation, even between the ground
and the crew, was WOMBAT.

Tuesday, Oct 31 12:00 a local CBS station carried news of the
launch
of one US astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts to the International
Space
Station.
In the background the words " about fifteen hundred meters per
second";
and a few seconds later, the words "forty seven hundred meters" could
be
clearly heard. I was not able to discern the context of these two
fragmented
quotations, but it was a pleasure hearing *spoken* SI from the ISS
program.
