I heard on the CBC Radio 2 (Classics/Arts) "Arts Report" that Famous Players had just
completed the last of the "Star City" large scale movie theatres in Canada. This last
one was built in Montreal.

What makes this "List-worthy" is that the size of the building was given as "9300
square metres". It is extremely rare to hear or see real estate area listed in metric
units. I suspect, from what I have heard on the List, that this could simply be an
artefact of Quebec being more open to metric and the news release was most likely
translated from the original French document.

Houses and most industrial real estate are still sold/rented/taxed by the square foot,
and the property either with the linear dimesions in feet, or the area in acres.

When we bought our house 2 years ago we had to hunt for a real estate agent who was
willing to translate the listed values into metric rather than giving us the line
"this industry still uses feet and so do I". I'd argue that his now-lost potential
customer and commission uses metric and walk away.
