Hello to all I just re-suscribed to the list after having been off for a 17-day trip to South Africa (with incursions to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Swaziland). An excellent trip, with heart-breaking sights, exciting safaris, etc. And, as far as possible, contacts with population, whites or blacks. Of course I was interested in discussing the weights and measures issue. I was somewhat disappointed : this is simply not an issue ; they are metric, period ! When you push them, some older people say "ah yes, some 30 - 40 years ago, we used these odd measures left by the Brits. But we decided to be a modern country, and we got rid of them ..." I told you it was a fascinating trip ! Louis
