Greg,

I think that I cannot send them a message; it could even backfire. They may
say: "What has that to do with you in Europe? Mind your own business!"

So I better tell you what I think. Can they do that legally? What does the
law say about the formal teaching of Imperial in Canadian schools? This may
be the way to stop them.

This is a stupid, retrograde step. If these dinosaur companies want to use
Stone Age units, they should train their workers themselves. These companies
who refused to go metric for years should pay the price for their
intransigence.

Suppose that their proposal to go to the Ministry of Education to bring back
Imperial in the schools wakes up the government to this problem and that it
then flies in their own face, leading to the end of the Metric Moratorium.

Han

> B-5 BE IT RESOLVED that the SSTA urge Saskatchewan Education to revise
curriculum to include instruction of imperial measurements that are still
being essentially used in today's industry and economy.

 Sponsor's Rationale
Many occupations (carpentry, mechanics, farming) still use the imperial
system of measurement.
The provincial curriculum does not include the imperial system of
measurement for instruction.
