Once again, it is unfortunate that a tragedy supplies examples of good
and bad practice in metric units. I refer to the appalling murder of
the 10-year old Nigerian boy in London. The Independent had an article
yesterday in which it mixes 'yards' and 'metres', while the Guardian's
story was totally in metres. Needless to say, the Telegraph used
'yards' only. Given the context, I feel sure the information in metres
was supplied like that by the police.
