When Napoleon in 1800 introduced the "usual names" in the new metric
system, with a view to have it more easily accepted by the
population, the kilogramme was re-named "livre" (pound). Are you
prepared to accept that ?

For a while, between 1793 and 1795, the mass of 1 cubic decimeter of
water was named "grave". Does that sound better ?
