Amen! And if a group called "The Public X-Y Mapping Project" has its
way, that thinking (in meters and kilometers) could grow beyond the
"boondocks" to Americans in urban settings and everywhere else. That
group advocates even greater adoption of UTM (MGRS) as the all-purpose
grid for civil spatial addressing in the US. I mumbled something
about this last year; they now have a Web site up, which may be of
interest to some on this list...
