Did anyone besides me see one of the Wednesday, 2000-12-27 installments of 'Junkyard Wars' on The Learning Channel? This show (they showed two episodes this evening) involves two teams of four using the material available in a British scrapyard to build working contraptions that perform amazing tasks. One of the two shows they had on this evening had a team of Brits competing against a team of Americans to construct a working fireboat. It was a hoot seeing the confusion on the Americans' collective faces when they were trying to convert between three different, unrelated units (US Gallons, 'UK' (Imperial) Gallons and decilitres) to see if their makeshift pump would pump enough water to put out the fire with even more 'English-metric' fun later on to see if they had enough oil drums to float their Land Rover, which was weighed (in kilogrammes) on the scrapyard scale. A true 'Learning (Channel) moment' indeed! a -- ____________________________________________________________________________ Regards, Michael G.
