However, the Mg  IS true SI;  the tonne (sometimes spelled ton)  is a 'tag'
(and a handy one) for the Mg  [a bit like the litre - a convenient 'tag' for
the dm^3;  the hectare  -  a 'tag' for  the hm^2]
