I just heard on the radio that George W. Bush has selected Don Evans to be
his Commerce Secretary, and that Mr. Evans' Senate confirmation is going
smoothly.

The report's description of Mr. Evans sounds like it may be good for us.  It
said that he is a personal friend of Mr. Bush and an oil man who strongly
supports expanding free trade.  To that end, he might be friendly toward the
idea of US metrication to make our products more desirable to international
customers.
