>>>>> With an ICM poll last month finding 91 per cent of people opposed to
the prosecution, Mr Thoburn's supporters believe that a decision against him
could inflame anti-European sentiment just as the Government faces a general
election.
I see in the article that the support for this trader is up to 91 %. I
wonder where they come up with these figures, and who or what is ICM?. If
they do a survey, one wonders how they ask the questions.
It would seem to me that if this was such a hot issue, one would see a mass
of protesters marching in the streets in support of these guys. A few
hundred supporters out of millions of citizens doesn't count for much.
>>>>> John: I misread your post. I'm sure Mr Herron will have seen this
letter already - this is his local paper, after all, and he has already had
at least letter in there himself. I suggest you have a look at the Website.
If this is so, then he would feel smug that 91 % of the people who support
him and this guy must be part of the 9 % that don't. So, I can see where he
would just blow it off. But, won't it be a shock for him if he finds that
the 91 % support is hollow?
These traders harp on about that they want to continue using pounds, because
that is what their customers want. But, what they have to prove to the
court is how having a scale in kilograms will prevent them from selling to a
customer who asks for a pound of something. Maybe having to deal with 454
is the problem, or feeling they have to do double work by showing a set of
prices in metric and imperial. But, that is something they have to deal
with. I'm sure other traders who comply deal with it daily and even though
they might have complained early on, by now they must be use to it.
And who knows how many people ask for their food in grams now?
Glückliches Neues Jahr!
Happy New Year!
