I, too, regularly actively campaign for conservative Republicans and
totally agree that it is a completely NON-partisan issue.  

Among MANY other logical reasons, my personal 'libertarian' leanings
mesh perfectly with SI in that its sheer simplicity and universality
allows things like free and FAIR commerce possible.  No, we are not
giving up any 'sovereignty' in adopting a worldwide standard of weights
and measures, only our isolation.  Open, free and fair trade (and that
which encourages it) enriches us all.

The simple elegancy of SI itself also makes its adoption a 'no brainer'
in my mind.

By the way, my local State Assmebly representative agrees with the
merits of SI, he is also a conservative Republican.

Have you contacted (and lobbied) your local state legislators on the subject?
