I was flipping through the channels last night and I heard two rather surprising (and
pleasing) references to metric on US network TV.

1) "Ali McBeal" (Fox Network). A reference was made by a supposedly overweigth witness
to "lose 5". When questioned she stated "it could have been kilos or pounds, she
wasn't specific."

2) "Family Law" (CBS Network). A reference was made by a lawyer with regards to a
predatory person at a bar approaching her victim "by sip and by centimeter." [note US
spelling since it was a US show ;) ]

They were both quite casual references so maybe the writers of these shows are aware
that the general public is more knowledgeable about metric than the political leaders
and stagnant companies would like to admit?
