Dear Friends:

I think the time has come to do more of trying to
"bring round" anyone, everyone, in the scientific
community and others seeking to discuss scientific
issues...to the regular and customary use of metric.

I have a suggestion for those of you who are able and
willing to discuss metric issue on the internet.

Why not join some other group or community or club or
board or forum dealing with some scientific matter,
something not necessarily connected to metric, and
then within the group attempt to promote metrication?

For example, I joined the following yahoo clubs,
partly out of my interest in their general subject but
also partly to push metrication:

http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/meteorologyclub
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/weatherchannelfanclub
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/weatherwatchers
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/wannabeastronomers

In each club I have said little, but I have at times
attempted to talk about metrication, each time meeting
with some rather ludicrous angry responses (and also a
few kind and rational comments.

I would like it very much if a few of our metric board
folks might decide to join 1 or 2 or 3 or all 4 of
these clubs, helping me to convert the heathen. And
I'd like to hear more here about other similar
efforts.

Let's all experiment a bit with this feature of the
internet. Each of us can find places on the internet
where it is appropriate in some way to promote
metrication among folks who are not yet in our camp.

Sincerely,
Andy Johnson
