The conversion appears to be simply 1 mile = 1.6 km, but the odometer cannot correctly display 200 000.0 km or more (i.e. from 199 999.9 km to 100 000.0 km rather than 200 000.0 km). When reaching 150 000 miles, the conversion was 140 000 km, though it should have been 240 000 km, or something around 241 402 km. I look forward to seeing metrication of US traffic signs so the display can be permanently switched to the SI (if the car can last so long). Read the Millennium Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (US) at http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/kno-millennium.htm and you can find some metric traffic signs! I am waiting to see what happens in Ireland then. The US is ahead of the UK in metrication of traffic signs, so if the UK keeps resisting, perhaps the US, in addition to Ireland, will teach the UK a lesson! ===== Justin JIH http://www.geocities.com/jusjih/ << Vive le Systme international d'units! >> "Long live the International System of Units!"
