Andy asked kilopascal who relayed it to USMA in message 10954: > Well, give me some help. I guess I am now persuaded to send email which reads: "Please join me on 2001--02--21" but how do I make sure that people do not misunderstand when, in many cases, it would be easy to misunderstand. If we are talking about the second month and the fourth day of that month and if we invite folks on 2001-02-04, how do we make sure they know we mean Feb. 4 and not April 2? > > Andy Good question. Answer: Don't use all-numeric dating unless it is for data processing by machine. It is just as short to designate the month by 2 letters as by 2 numbers. Here is a suggested list of abbreviatioins: JA, FE, MR, AP, MY, JN, JL, AU, SE, OC,NO, DE. Joseph B. Reid 17 Glebe Road West Toronto M5P 1C8 Tel. 416 486-6071
