On Pg. 6 of the 2001 01/02 issue of METRIC TODAY  (FAA PROPOSES   ...
SATTELITE LAUNCHING), it is stated that  "(d)  Measurement system
consistency.  For each analysis, an applicant must employ a consistent
measurement system, whether English or metric  .."

It would seem to me that, in light of the Omnibus Trade Bill of 1988, the
wording should have been   "..   an applicant must employ a consistent
measurement system;  that system must be SI".

It is surprising that FAA would bind itself to having to deal with  outmoded
"English units".
